DevOps – the confluence of software development and IT operations – sort of embodies effective, efficient use of cloud computing resources. According to many of the case studies I’ve done, DevOps also often equates to an organization’s effort to future-proof itself, becoming more responsive to conditions, competitors, security and other issues.
IDC predicts that the number of new cloud-based solutions will triple in the next four to five years. To examine the current status of cloud deployment in the context of different vertical industries, IDC identified industry drivers and barriers of using cloud technology and presented insights in terms of how to leverage cloud computing to create new value.
Today we announced that IIA selected Flexiant Cloud Orchestrator as its cloud management platform. Based in Santiago, Chile, IIA will use Flexiant to deliver cloud services to its 3,000 clients and the market quickly. Read the full press release here.

Last night saw the latest Chef Users London meetup, held in Accenture’s impressive Fenchurch Street offices. As usual for Chef’s London meetups, there was a great turnout, with participants from across the DevOps spectrum. This meant there was a wide range of experience in the room, and even by Chef’s usual meetup standards we had a particularly engaged and interactive audience, which made for some interesting discussions.
