Backup as a Service

Data protection should be a key concern for every one of your customers today. If just one of their virtual machines (VMs) were to fail for any reason, chances are that it would have a detrimental impact on their business – in the most extreme cases it can even put the company out of business.

Think about it! When a disaster happens – whether it’s something as simple as a failed node or a more far-reaching natural disaster – whatever application is running and the critical information on it could be lost forever. Even lost e-mails can impact mission-critical areas like compliance, productivity, or closing a contract or deal. The consequences could quite literally be disastrous!

The Data Protection Opportunity

Surprisingly, most businesses are way behind when it comes to having the proper levels of data protection, including in the critical areas of backup and disaster recovery (DR). According to IDC, 70% of organizations have insufficient DR protection of their critical data1. Meanwhile, according to Markets and Markets, the worldwide Data Protection & Disaster Recovery software market will grow to $7.9B by 20182.

For both service providers and their end customers, now is the time for backup and disaster recovery in the cloud.

Best-Of-Breed Backup as a Service

As the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) market is becoming more commoditized, the ability to seamlessly extend cloud services to include backup presents an immediate revenue opportunity for telcos and service providers. It can also help differentiate your cloud service offerings.

This is why Flexiant has joined forces with best-of-breed cloud software vendor Acronis to offer its latest backup solution. Acronis Backup Cloud is now available as a new add-on service for the Flexiant platform (you can read our announcement here). Our aim is to make it as easy as possible for your IaaS customers to provision and configure Backup as a Service (BaaS) on the virtual servers. They can do this through a single user interface with consolidated billing for a completely transparent experience.

Generating new revenue couldn’t be easier with this powerful new add-on solution.

Furthermore, your customers can easily consume the backup plans that you define for them by self-serving directly through the Flexiant Cloud Orchestrator control panel, while keeping the Pay as You Go pricing 100% consistent with their current experience. When provisioning a server, customers simply need to select a configuration with the preferred backup option. Customers can also specify backup parameters, such as frequency and retention.
